As some of you may know, Warlord Games will be releasing a new
Judge Dredd skirmish wargame supported by a brand new range of figures. The figures will be fully compatible scale-wise with those from the
Strontium Dogs range, also produced by Warlord Games. I must admit this is the most exciting news I have heard all year. Suffice to say, I will be adding these new figures to my already considerably sized 28-32mm scale
Judge Dredd collection of figures.
Warlord Games recently released some preview photos of their new miniatures and I repeat them here.
First up is Judge Dredd on foot and on Lawmaster bike. The foot figure is very good but I still prefer the Wargames Foundry figure of Dredd that I'm already using. However, the mounted version of Dredd is superb. That new version of the Lawmaster bike is just perfect.
Next in line are a set of five arch villains, all of which should be very familiar with any Judge Dredd fan. I am sure the rest of the Dark Judges and the Angel Gang will be released in the future.
This next set features five MC1 Denizens, including Oola Blint, her husband, Homer, Vigilante Karl Raider and a generic East-Meg Agent and Futsie.
The largest set is this group of eight Block Gangers. These could be used equally well in
Judge Dredd or
Strontium Dogs.
If you want a bigger Block Gang, these three figures are Block Gang Reinforcements.
Last up is this League of Fatties set. This is the first time I have seen a company make a female Fattie, so kudos to Warlord Games.
Looking at them, I can't see a bad sculpt amongst them. Release date is scheduled for 16th of November, just over a week before my birthday, so I know what I'll be getting for my birthday. You can expect to see most of these figures in action in my upcoming
Judge Dredd and the Worlds of 2000 AD campaign. To be honest, I'm more interested in the figures than in the skirmish game but I will give it a try out.

Many thanks, Dave, and cheers for reminding me of your vending stall patrons. I still need to buy them and your vending stalls. If the news is right, and I see no reason why it shouldn't be, if they're compatible with the "Strontium Dogs" range, they'll fit in with lots of other ranges as well.

DeleteBryan as you already know Ive no knowledge of Judge Dread at all apart from a vague memory of Rocky playng Dread but the figures look good, I do like the fatties and also East Meg Agent, presumably these will be a set buy rather than individual figures?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your comment, John. Please banish any memories you have of the dire Stallone "Dredd" movie and watch the more up to date one with Karl Urban in the title role. It's awesome!

I'm glad you didn't like the Stallone one either, I thought is was rubbish.
DeleteJohn, I don't know any true "Judge Dredd" fan who liked Stallone's effort. There were a few things I liked about it (the cityscapes, the ABC Warrior, the weapons and vehicles) but far more things I hated about it - especially the script, which was dire!
DeleteGreat looking sculpts, they really capture the feel of MC1 and takes me back to my childhood when GW did the JD RP game and minis. I agree about the Stallone film although the one thing that really stood out was the Angel gang, I thought they'd got that spot on, especially Mean Machine.
DeleteMuch appreciated, Blast 'em. I, too, liked the Angel gang, especially the make-up for Mean Machine but they were wasted in the film. They deserved a film of their own.
DeleteSome nice looking models there Bryan & would agree on the Stallone movie bad but I liked the move resent film.
