St. Trinian's Sixth Form Students 01

My collection of St. Trinian's Sixth Form students is the most extensive of my cast of characters so, by necessity, I am splitting this review of them into two parts. I'm starting off with a look at the head girls and the Posh Totty clique. The two recent films in the series established that the pupils split up into assorted cliques, groups or tribes, most notably, the Ecos, the Emos, the First/Second Years, the Flammables, the Geeks, the Indies, the Posh Totty and the Rude Girls.
At the left is Kelly Jones, a teenage nimble Chosen One St. Trinian's Sixth Form Student who has a yearning for action and adventure. Kelly is no ordinary human - she is a Chosen One, destined for greatness as a top agent for the UK's top secret spy agency, MI7. From a very early age, she was trained in the martial arts by her parents who were both martial arts teachers. They could have sent her to almost any school in England but chose St. Trinian's School for Girls. They knew that if Kelly could survive here, she could survive anything life threw at her. They weren't wrong. St. Trinian's turned out a lot better than boot camp could and she excelled as a student. It was never in any doubt that she would end up as Head Girl. When new girl Annabelle Fritton enrolled during Kelly's sixth and final year, Kelly saw something in her that told her she'd be a worthy successor as Head Girl and thus, helped to groom her to take over when Kelly graduated. The two became very close friends. Kelly helped plan and steal Vermeer's famous painting, The Girl with the Pearl Earring from the National Gallery in London. Kelly is an extremely likeable young woman, respected by all of the St. Trinian's pupils who aspire to be just like her. Kelly is filled with a yearning for action and adventure. She appeared in the St. Trinian's film as the Head Girl and reappeared in the sequel, St. Trinian's: the Legend of Fritton's Gold as an MI7 agent. She is rank grade:6 and aged 16. Her figure is produced by Copplestone Castings as part of their Future Wars Corporate Babes set.
Next to her is Annabelle Lealla Fritton, a teenage inspiring human St. Trinian's Sixth Form Head Girl who likes to keep fit. Annabelle, an uptight daddy's girl, was unwillingly transferred to St. Trinian's School from the distinguished Cheltenham Ladies College at the behest of her father, Carnaby, who was the brother of St. Trinian's headmistress, Camilla. Annabelle was clearly different to the other pupils and didn't fit in but head girl, Kelly Jones, took her under her wing and introduced her to the various cliques within the school. On her first night, Annabelle was pranked by the other girls, resulting in her running around the school naked being broadcast live on the internet. Soon after, the Cheltenham Ladies College hockey team arrived and Annabelle was forced to face her former bullies, including captain Verity Thwaites. The hockey match was inevitably  violent, resulting in Kelly scoring the winning goal, which was followed by a brawl between the two schools. Annabelle was given a complete makeover by the pupils under the instructions of Kelly, who groomed Annabelle to become the new head girl after she, Kelly, graduated. Now, a year later, Annabelle is accepted by the pupils as a worthy successor to Kelly. She has totally transformed and is no longer the mousey, timid girl but a young woman who exudes confidence, sex appeal and is a style icon. My characterisation of Annabelle is based on her appearance in St. Trinian's: the Legend of Fritton's Gold. She is rank grade:6 and aged 16. Her figure is a conversion of a Copplestone Castings Future Wars Corporate Babes 2 set with her katana being replaced by a hockey stick.
Next up are four girls from the Posh Totty clique, starting at the far left with Chelsea Parker, a teenage persuasive human St. Trinian's Sixth Form student who always knows the latest fashions. Chelsea was blessed with good looks, good fortune and incredible wealth from birth. Her father is a CEO of a large international finance firm and her mother works as a lawyer. She has never known poverty or hardship in her life and is used to getting her own way at all times. When she was enrolled at St. Trinian's School for Girls she was immediately adopted by the Posh Totty tribe. Now, aged 16, she is the leader of the Posh Totty tribe, a young woman admired by many. She is beautiful and she knows it. Although there are many who would regard her as an airhead, she proved them all wrong when she led a St. Trinian's team to a famous but unexpected victory in the recent School Challenge TV quiz. Admittedly, her team cheated in every round, but no one outside of St. Trinian's were aware of such shenanigans. Chelsea is rank grade:6 and aged 16. She appeared in both of the recent St. Trinian's films. Her figure was produced by Hasslefree Miniatures as Bathing Suit Libby, which I converted by adding her school uniform.

Next in line is Chloe Bernath, a teenage suave human St. Trinian's Sixth Form student who follows celebrity gossip. Chloe is the only daughter of James and Sylvia, who are both very rich and successful. James is an investment banker and Sylvia is a solicitor. Both work in the City and they rub shoulders with the movers and shakers. They spoilt Chloe as a child, so she never experienced poverty or hardship. When Chloe enrolled at St. Trinian's School for Girls she naturally joined the Posh Totty group of students. She became very close friends with Chelsea Parker and Peaches Karan. The three girls were chosen by Miss Dickinson as the St. Trinian's team for the popular School Challenge TV quiz show. The team made it to the final by cheating in every round and they won the final which came to a closely fought finale with both sides on equal points before the last question. Chloe is a beautiful young woman, very suave and charismatic. She enjoys following celebrity gossip. Chloe is rank grade:6 and aged 16. Her character appeared in the 2007 St. Trinian's film. Her figure was made up from parts of the Warlord Games Project Z Female Survivors set.
Second from the right is Rachel Smith-Edwards, a teenage suave human St. Trinian's Sixth Form student who flirts constantly. Rachel hails from Basingstoke, the largest town in Hampshire. The only daughter of affluent parents she had a privileged upbringing. From an early age, she was introduced to the high society and she quickly learned how to influence others with a smile and a witty or flirtatious remark. When she enrolled at St. Trinian's School for Girls, she was immediately accepted into the Posh Totty tribe of like-minded girls. St. Trinian's changed her and not in a good way. She learned a lot of bad habits, like gambling, and as her body matured, using her sex appeal to get what she wanted. Realising that crime does pay, she set up a protection racket when she became a Sixth Former. She also acquired a 9mm Beretta 92F pistol, which she keeps hidden, but uses it to intimidate those who don't obey her demands. To many, the Posh Totty clan are seen as vacuous airheads who are only interested in looking beautiful but Rachel is a cold and calculating bitch, who will go to any lengths to get what she wants. Rachel is rank grade:6 and is aged 16. She did not appear in any of the films and is one of my original creations. Her figure is a converted Copplestone Castings Bodyguard in Bikini from their Future Wars Civilians range.

Last up is Regina Hilton, a teenage athletic human St. Trinian's Sixth Form student who has a keen interest in the martial arts. Regina excelled at sports from a very early age. Her academic skills were very poor but that didn't bother her as she was far more interested in developing her athletic abilities. When she enrolled at St.Trinian's School for Girls as a First Former she was encouraged by her tutors to concentrate on her athletic prowess. By the time she became a Third Former, she was an excellent all rounder in all sports she participated in. It was at this point in her life that she took up jujitsu. She took to it like a fish to water and spent the next four years concentrating as a jujitsu martial artist. She grew into a very beautiful woman and became a member of the Posh Totty clique. Knowing that no one would dare to take her on in a fight, the Posh Totty girls were glad to have her as a protector. Before joining the Posh Totties she was only interested in sports but now, her social skills are developing thanks to the tutelage of her Posh Totty friends. Regina is also rank grade:6 and is aged 16. She is another character who I have designed as she did not appear in any of the films. Her figure is a very rare Ground Zero Games Gentleman's Club figure.

St. Trinian's Staff 01

I am now ready to start a new campaign using the N.O.W. role-playing rules by EN Publishing. This rulebook is designed for games set in the contemporary period. I have a few ideas for contemporary campaigns but the most popular choice that my followers wanted me to do was one based upon the St. Trinian's films, a series that I'm particularly fond of. Thank you Frank and John! I had planned on running a St. Trinian's campaign on my Undead blog but I never got round to it. The N.O.W. rules are absolutely perfect for such a campaign. Before I start the campaign I want to show you my cast of St. Trinian's characters. At the time of this posting I have 8 staff members and 32 students and every one of them has a fully developed character record sheet created for them. It was a lot of work creating so many characters but it was something I fully enjoyed doing. A lot of the figures I'm using have been shown on my Undead blog but there are also new additions that have never been shown before. In this post, for example, Matron has never been shown before. For the next few posts I'm going to split the characters up into the following categories - Staff, Sixth Formers, Fifth Formers, Fourth Formers, Third Formers and Second Formers. No, there are no First Formers in my figure collection. So let's get started. The characters are split between those who appeared in the recent St. Trinian's and St. Trinian's: Legend of Fritton's Gold films and those whom I have designed myself.
At the far left is Camilla Dagey Fritton, an elderly empathic human headmistress of St. Trinian's School for Girls who will go to any lengths to make her school a success. She is the latest member of this family to be the headmistress of St. Trinian's. She is the grand-daughter of the late Millicent Fritton, the first headmistress of St. Trinian's from the 1950's. She has a younger brother named Carnaby, whom she barely tolerates. She never married but she has a number of rich men friends, including Education Minister Geoffrey Thwaites whom she is romantically involved with. St. Trinian's reputation as the most anarchic and corrupt school in the United Kingdom is well deserved. Camilla is fiercely loyal to her girls and will go to any lengths to ensure the school remains open and gives her pupils a full education to prepare them for life outside. Her philosophy can be summed up thus, "In other schools girls are sent out quite unprepared into a merciless world but when our girls leave here, it is the merciless world which has to be prepared." She is rank grade:7 and aged 61. Her figure is a Black Cat Bases sleuth.

Next up is "Flash Harry" Edwards, a persuasive human smuggler who avoids danger at all costs. Henry Cuthbert Edwards aka "Flash Harry" was born and bred in Watford, London. His father sold racecards, and when he was 12 years old, Harry was employed as a boot polisher by Miss Fritton, the headmistress of St. Trinian's School for Girls. Thus began a long relationship with the school. As an adult, Harry is one of the few whom the pupils trust. He helps to bottle and sell their gin, distilled in the chemistry lab, and places bets on horses for them. Harry also runs the St. Trinian's Matrimony Agency for the teenage Sixth Form girls, setting them up with wealthy men. He even runs a betting scam of his own and is quite well known in the criminal community. He is rank grade:6 aged 36. His figure is a converted teenage thief produced by Turnkey Miniatures.
Second from the right is Celia Savile, a feeble human nurse who likes crossword puzzles and word games. From an early age, Celia knew she wanted to be a nurse when she grew up. Upon leaving school she studied Medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. She passed her exams with an Honours degree. After spending 12 hard years working in a busy London hospital as a ward nurse, she made the decision to find a less stressful job working as nurse in a primary school. For three years, she was very happy in her job at a small school in a rural village in the Home Counties. But falling pupil numbers meant that the school was forced to close and so she had to look elsewhere for a new posting. Unfortunately for her, the Medical Commission assigned her to St. Trinian's School for Girls. Life there was akin to working as a front-line nurse in a war zone. Barely a day went by when someone didn't need patching up as the pupils were a violent and anarchic lot. Sports days were always busy times for her as injuries were as inevitable as they were frequent. To help cope with the stress she has taken up drinking alcohol during her down time. She also relaxes by doing crossword puzzles every day. To staff and pupils alike she is referred to as "Matron." She is rank grade:5 aged 38. Her figure is a converted Black Cat Bases scientist.

Last in line is Beverley Whittaker, a clumsy human receptionist at St. Trinian's School who spends more time daydreaming than working. Beverley was one of life's underachievers. She drifted through school with average grades and no clear idea of what she wanted to do with her life. After passing her driving test she got a job as a pizza delivery girl, which lasted a year. Then she got  a job delivering prescriptions to home-bound patients. Boredom set in after a few years and she got sacked after taking one too many sick days. She decided that a change in direction was needed and she got a job as a part time secretary in a large office. Over the next three years she worked for six different companies, never spending more than six months at any one place. Eventually, she applied for the post of receptionist at St. Trinian's School, where her past was overlooked. She is at best, average at her job, but is tolerated by the pupils who quickly sussed that she was oblivious to all the mischief they got up to. Beverley does take drugs and drinks alcohol, and she spends more time daydreaming than working, but Miss Fritton, the headmistress, pretends not to notice. She is rank grade:5 aged 27. Her figure is a Turnkey Miniatures civilian.
At the far left is Caterina Maupassant, a suave human St. Trinian's School French teacher who flirts constantly. She was born and raised in Paris, France and was an only child. Upon leaving school she got a job as a cocktail waitress in a popular wine bar. She had blossomed into a very beautiful young woman and it was her good looks that drew the attention of a casting agent who offered her a job as an actress. She appeared as a supporting actress in a film called Ecole du Scandale (School for Scandal), a smutty comedy which called for her to appear fully nude. It was not a big success but nor was it a flop. This lead to Caterina being offered more movie roles but they were all for porn films and she didn't want to go down that route. After two years of drifting aimlessly whilst she reconsidered her future she moved to England and enrolled in a teacher training college. She passed her exams and got a job at an inner city comprehensive school in London. She stayed there for a couple of years before moving to her current school, St. Trinian's School for Girls. She immediately felt at home here. She teaches three foreign languages - French, German and Spanish. She is well respected by the pupils, especially the Posh Totty clique, who love her sense of style. She is rank grade:6 aged 28. Her figure was produced by Black Cat Bases.

Next to her is Lena Dickinson, an erudite human teacher at St. Trinian's School who likes to read poetry and ancient literature. Lena is a bookworm who is a mild-mannered and naïve woman who has a tendency to see the good in people she meets. She did well enough at school to take a degree course in Literature at her home university in Cambridge. She wanted to pursue a career in teaching and upon acquiring her teacher training certificate, she taught at a number of secondary modern schools before facing her biggest challenge of her life - teaching literature and English language at the notorious St. Trinian's School for Girls. She was totally unprepared for what she found there, as the girls were an undisciplined and unruly mob with little desire to learn anything other than how to cause chaos and mayhem. But Lena was determined to do well and when she entered the school in the TV quiz show, School Challenge, the headmistress, Camilla Fritton, fully supported her and to her surprise, so too, did the pupils. Unbeknownst to Lena, there was an ulterior motive for Camilla wanting the school to do well in the challenge. It was important that the school reached the final of the series and they did, thanks to their cheating in every round. Lena was delighted to see the school team triumph in the final, and as a result, she earned a lot of respect from the pupils. She is rank grade:5 aged 30. Her figure is a Black Cat Bases Female Civilian.
Third in line is Fenella Cleaver, a rugged human St. Trinian's School PE teacher who always pushes herself and her pupils to the limit. Fenella grew up near Pretoria in South Africa to parents who taught her the art of survivalism from a very early age. By the time she was 18, she was already highly skilled in survival and combat skills. She was also very adept at sports and decided to emigrate to England where she joined an athletics club in London. She excelled at running and for the next seven years she competed in the London Marathon every year, always finishing in the top 100. She suffered an unfortunate ligament injury on a training run when she was 25. Whilst recovering she made the decision to resign from professional running and pursue a career in teaching sports. Her first teaching appointment was at the infamous St. Trinian's School for Girls. Her tough upbringing stood her in good stead in surviving intact at the school. She pushes her pupils hard but she has earned their respect as a teacher not to be messed with. As well as her regular sports curriculum, she also teaches her pupils survival and combat skills. She is rank grade:5 aged 30. Her figure was made from the Warlord Games Project Z Male and Female Survivors sets.

Finally, is Ruby Gates, an alert human detective who loves automobiles. Ruby was a very bright child who enjoyed being a Girl Guide. She had a good upbringing and did well at school. She went on to study Criminology at college with a view to taking a career in the police force. After seven years as a constable she applied to be a detective and she easily passed the entrance exam. She was well respected by her colleagues and had a high detection rate on the cases she was assigned to. Her grandmother, whom Ruby was named after, also worked as a policewoman before retiring. Young Ruby would often consult with her. When Ruby received her latest assignment - to work undercover as an IT teacher at the notorious St. Trinian's School for Girls, her grandmother was horrified and begged her not to go. She had also worked undercover at the same school early in her career, and it had not gone well for her. However, young Ruby was adamant that she could take care of herself and that she had nothing to worry about. Her confidence was soon to be found greatly misplaced. Nothing could have prepared her for what was to  come! She is rank grade:6 aged 29. Her figure is another Turnkey Miniatures civilian.

Rom Space Gypsies 02

In this post I'm reviewing another three Rom Space Gypsies, whom I introduced last post. These are all Jovian humans born on the same planet (Midget) in the Phoenix Nebula, which is also where the three characters I showcased last time hailed from. These three are also crew members of The Speedy Pearl. Their figures were part of the Citadel Miniatures Rogue Trader range produced in the 1980's and now long out of production. They all have the same body but different heads and weapons, which is something that Citadel often did way back then. Their squat and muscular appearance make them ideal figures to use as Jovians.
At the far left is Miron Butacu, a tough as nails Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy gangster who likes to swap stories in bars. His early teenage years were spent as a space jockey in the Rom fleet. Three years later he joined one of the Rom gangs as a street thug. He was employed by Skender Skutnik, the captain of The Speedy Pearl, and later graduated to gangster status as he grew more experienced. He is armed with a 10mm Slugger Rifle and a Disruptor Pistol. He wears a High Quality Nemourelon Vest, which is similar to but a more advanced version of the Kevlar Vest. It offers SOAK:8. He is rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
In the centre of this trio is Cosmin Moranu, a forgetful Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy driver who loves red sports cars. He grew up as a traveller, followed by three years as a street thug, three years as a space jockey and five years as a gangster, which is when Skender Skutnik recruited him. As a teenager, Cosmin developed a fascination with automobiles and he loved racing in them whenever the opportunity presented itself. His role is now that of getaway driver for his crew. He is armed with a Bolt Rifle and a 10mm Slugger Pistol. He wears a High Quality Nemourelon Vest. He is also rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
Last in line is Razvan Cutov, a Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy who is intolerant and dismissive of all non-Rom. Razvan was a bully from an early age and he enjoyed fighting. He spent his teen years as a street thug. Rather than employ him as another bruiser, Skender Skutnik, made use of Cosmin's scouting talents and employed him as his reconnaissance expert, a job he has done quite successfully for the past twelve years. He is armed with a Bolt Rifle, an Ion Pistol and a Laser Pistol. He also wears a High Quality Nemourelon Vest and he is also rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
These are rank and file crew members of The Speedy Pearl, and are all skilled combatants. They are very loyal to Skender Skutnik and proud of their heritage.

Rom Space Gypsies 01

In the past I have showcased a lot of space pirates who are all part of The Organisation, a vast criminal empire, but not all pirates are members of The Big O, as The Organisation is also known as. They could be independent operatives, or members of the Triads or Yakuza, for example. In GURPS Space Atlas 4 there is brief mention of the Rom Space Gypsies. Based in the Mandragora system's Phoenix Nebula, they follow the codes and traditions of the Romany wanderers of old Earth. Their caravans of brightly-painted tramp starships are frequent visitors at starports across human space, carrying small cargoes, selling trinkets gathered from across the galaxy, and telling fortunes. The Patrol and startown cops distrust them as petty thieves, con-artists and smugglers, a reputation which, while exaggerated, is not totally undeserved.
The Rom are a secretive people with little interest in the doings of non-gypsy "Gaje" and none of their laws. But for those who have earned their trust, space gypsies are both good friends and an excellent source of information about the events in human space.
I thought that they would make for a perfect encounter with the crew of The Ace of Spades. I created stats for a small crew of a scout ship called The Speedy Pearl, captained by Skender Skutnik, a smuggler of some renown. I have a collection of very old Citadel Miniatures produced for their Rogue Trader game, the first edition of Warhammer 40,000. I'm showcasing three of them in this post and another three in my next post. All six characters are Jovian humans from the same planet - a high gravity (2.50G) barren world called Midget in the Phoenix Nebula. The figures I chose all have a very squat appearance, making them perfect for the Jovian subset of humanity.
I start with Skender Skutnik, a reckless Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy smuggler captain who enjoys stargazing. I gave all of the crew of The Speedy Pearl the Traveller origin, because space gypsies like to travel a lot and rarely settle down on a planet for long. Also, because they spend most of their lives onboard starships, their first job is most often a space jockey. Skender then went on to train as a pilot, which lasted for seven years or two tours of duty. At the age of 23, he was given his own starship to command. For the past twelve years, he has worked as a smuggler, slowly building up his reputation amongst the Rom. He has a roguish charm, and his crew are very loyal to him. He very much lives up to the stereotype of the Rom space gypsy, an unsavoury and untrustworthy character for the most part. He is armed with a Trans Sun FC33 Fireswarm Antimatter Rifle and a Highfarer SFR58 Antimatter Cutlass. He wears a GE33 Stalker Impact Suit under his clothing. He is rank grade:8 with a 7d6 dice pool.
Next in line is Darius Trelles, a tough as nails Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy burglar who collects antiques. Darius became a street thug during his teenage years. He then went on to become a scout for the Rom, checking out potential targets in starports. It was during this time that he developed his fascination for antiques. Most reputable dealers refused to deal with him, so he turned to burglary, stealing the items he particularly wanted. He found a home on board The Speedy Pearl, having known Skender Skutnik all his life. The two became very close friends and Darius is now second-in-command on The Speedy Pearl.  To aid in his illegal activities, which often took place at night, he had both eyes replaced with Night Vision Retinal Implants. He is armed with a High Quality Bolt Rifle, a Phaser Pistol and a High Quality Knife. He has an Exceptional Quality Thieves Toolkit, which was bequeathed to him by his father. He does not wear any armour, for the simple reason that he doesn't need to. He has incredibly tough skin which grants him a natural +7 SOAK. He is rank grade:7 with a 6d6 dice pool.
Last in line is Varujan Ganea, a rugged Jovian human Rom Space Gypsy engineer who enjoys singing karaoke. After spending 16 years as a traveller he became a space jockey in the engineering section of his parent's spaceship. He spent two years going wild as a street thug before embarking on his current career as chief engineer on The Speedy Pearl, a post he has held for the past 13 years. He is normally quite dour and taciturn whilst on duty, but when off duty he likes nothing more than singing karaoke in starport bars. He is not a good singer by any means, but he is always enthusiastic. He is armed with a Laser Rifle and he wears a Kevlar Vest. He is rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
The names for these characters came from the excellent Fantasy Name Generators website. I was hoping they had a section for gypsy names but they didn't. However, they did have a section for Romanian names, which were perfect for what I was looking for. As soon as I saw the name Skender Skutnik, I knew I'd struck gold! In my The Ace of Spades Campaign, these Rom could be a help or a hindrance to Kimberley and co. As always, creating them was a lot of fun.

The Organisation Space Pirates 06

I have another selection of Organisation space pirates to showcase here. These three figures were produced by Citadel Miniatures many years ago - in the 1980's I believe. Up till now, all of the space pirates I have been showing were either unarmoured or wearing light armour. These three, however, are wearing heavy battlesuits or heavy powered armour, making them much tougher opposition.
At the far left is Sanditon "Ruthless" Zul, a suave human Organisation Intelligence Officer who is distrusting and never gives anyone the benefit of the doubt. Zul was born on the ocean planet of Kolos 2 (Dieri) in the Center starsector. He was a child prodigy and enrolled in a respectable college at the age of 9, where he studied psychology, earning an Honours degree. His parents were corrupt officials working in the Dieri government and were both members of The Organisation. The Organisation had a strong presence on Dieri and corruption was rife. Zul left college to spend four years as a diplomat, where he honed his social skills and made some useful contacts. At the age of 17, his parents gained him membership into The Organisation. He made quite a reputation for himself on Dieri, a feat that was duly noted by his superiors. They offered him a post as one of their intelligence officers, who were known as Inquisitors. He was given unprecedented powers to travel anywhere to check in on Organisation operations anywhere in the galaxy, to ensure things ran smoothly. The job was perfect for him as he was a most distrusting person and he became obsessed with rooting out the truth. He is currently travelling with Adney "Deadeye" Stryker and his crew on board The Black Shroud. He is armed with a Bolt Carbine and he wears a high quality Navy Battlesuit (it has SOAK:13 but is ineffective against electricity attacks) with a Jet Pack. He is rank grade:7 with a 6d6 dice pool.
In the centre of this group is Adney "Deadeye" Stryker, a deadeye human Organisation pilot who is extremely stubborn and ruthless. He was born on Starhaven, the headquarters of The Organisation, to space pirate parents, so it was inevitable that he'd follow in their footsteps. As a child, he travelled far and wide with his parents and his first job was as a space jockey on the same ship they worked on. From them, he learned the arts of being a smuggler and when he was 16, he branched out on his own. This was when he was assigned piloting duties, a role he excelled in. The Organisation helped to nurture his talent and when he was 20 he was assigned his own ship along with a small crew. He named his ship, The Black Shroud, and spent three successful tours of duty commanding it and growing in reputation. He is now 35 years old and he has never been caught. The IPA have placed a sizeable bounty on his head but he still remains one step ahead of them. He prefers starship combat to ground-based combat but when he does have to engage in such actions he goes well prepared. He is armed with an Outerwide Overwatch Syndicate P12 Electron Autopistol and a Duranium Power Fist. He wears a standard Basic Battlesuit (SOAK:10 but is ineffective against electricity attacks) with a Jet Pack. He is also rank grade:7 with a 6d6 dice pool.

Finally, is Malin "Devious" Loyston, a brawny Jovian human who likes to listen to heavy metal music. He was born on Hades 3 (Devil's Ice Box), a high gravity desert planet in the Center starsector. He grew up as a moisture farmer then got a job as a miner. He had always had a rebellious streak and was forever getting into fights. After one brawl too many, he was fired for putting a fellow miner in hospital. A local crime syndicate offered him a job as a bruiser. This led to him being recruited as a space pirate on board The Black Shroud, under the command of Adney "Deadeye" Stryker. His first tour of duty passed well enough for Stryker to offer him full membership into The Organisation and he is now an accepted and loyal member of Stryker's crew. He is well armed with a Ding Exploration IG66 Zero Point Hunting Rifle with fitted Bayonet and an Ion Pistol for dealing with androids and robots. He wears Marauder Power Armour (SOAK:25 but ineffective against Ion attacks) with a Jet Pack. The ML printed on his Jet Pack are his initials. He is rank grade:6 with a dice pool of 6d6.

Once again, I had a lot of fun creating these three NPCs. Malin Loyston is the first Jovian human I have created for N.E.W. He is quite a small and squat figure, so it made a lot of sense to make him a Jovian, who thrive on high gravity worlds. I also wanted all three characters to be connected, so two of them are crew members of the same ship and Zul is travelling with them as a passenger. These are also the first characters I have created who are wearing heavy armour. It'll be interesting to see how they fare in combat.

The Organisation Space Pirates 05

I have recently been repainting and rebasing some of my old 28mm scale sci-fi figures to use in my The Ace of Spades Campaign. These four figures were made by Citadel Miniatures for their first edition of Warhammer 40,000 and are now long out of production. I have decided to use them as part of the galaxy spanning criminal empire known as The Organisation. You'll notice that all four of them are bare-chested - they are so tough they don't believe in armour!
At the far left is Roark "The Executioner" Elton - a young tough as nails human clone boxer who enjoys inflicting pain. Clones age at half the speed of normal humans so although he is 30 years old, he is still classed as young. Clones reach adulthood at 50 and old age at 120. He was cloned to be a boxer on his home planet of Core-Tiann 1 (Survias) where cloning and genetic experimentation is a common practice. For 15 years he had a very successful career in the ring, winning most of his matches. But there is always someone new waiting in the wings to be the next sensation and Roark was coerced to take a dive in a major title fight. Losing did not sit well with him and he quit the boxing profession and drifted into a life of crime. It was here that his previous talents were noted by The Organisation. Crimelord, Mal DuCham, offered him a new opportunity to revive his career in the underground death match arenas. With nothing to lose and the promise of a massive payouts, he accepted. He now fights in bouts where there are no rules and the thrill of bloody combat fills him with excitement. He is armed with an East Sun XMT28 Phase Chainsword, a Short-sword and a 9mm Slugger Pistol. He is rank grade:7 with a 6d6 dice pool.
Next in line is Dalbert Morren, an ambidextrous human Organisation smuggler who enjoys strong liquor when off duty. He was born on the ocean world of Travis Reguli Beta 2, where he first worked as a fisherman, then a diver. Alcohol was a rarity on his planet and once he acquired a taste for the strong stuff, he branched out into being a smuggler, which proved to be far more profitable than his regular job. Being a smuggler he was quickly noticed by The Organisation, who kept him under observation for a few years before approaching him with the offer of membership. He was introduced to Kort Kasyga, captain of The Golden Dagger, who recognised Dalbert as a kindred spirit. The two found they had much in common, so Dalbert joined Kort's crew and hasn't looked back since. He is armed with a high quality Blaster Pistol and a high quality Short-sword. He is rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
Second from the right is Bijam "Dragon" Soomro, a nimble Organisation pirate who believes in myths and legends. Of Pakistani origin, he was orphaned at an early age on the jungle planet Kaiwaith 2 (Moonjam). At the age of 12 he absconded from the orphanage and joined a gang of street thugs, where he was a loyal member for six years. His life of crime came to a temporary stop when he was arrested and sentenced to ten years imprisonment, which was reduced to six for good behaviour. Whilst in prison, he had begun studying the martial arts, and upon his release, he left Moonjam to find a dojo where he could study Southern Shaolin Kung Fu. He got lucky and for the next four years he applied himself rigorously to honing his martial arts skills. He got into a bar-room brawl at a spaceport and wiped the floor with his attackers. His performance was noted by pirate captain Kort Kasyga, who offered him a place on his ship, The Golden Dagger. Knowing his criminal record would preclude him from many jobs, Dalbert agreed and a couple of years later he was offered full membership into The Organisation. Unusually, he is armed with a Tangler Carbine, which is used for restraining victims in a mesh of sticky substances, doing no actual damage. He much prefers getting in close and personal, using his feet and fists to beat his opponents or, as a last resort, his Short-sword. He is rank grade:6 with a 6d6 dice pool.
Finally is Kipp "Feral" Kendal, a young human clone Organisation assassin who prefers to work alone. He was an experimental clone created by a black ops division of the DeMeriville Industries Ltd. megacorporation on the planet Braggi 2 (Cretaceous) in the Byte starsector. As its name would suggest, Cretaceous is a volcanic, jungle world similar to Terra during its Cretaceous Era and populated with many similar dinosaurs. Kipp was tasked with jungle fighting alongside a mercenary group hired by DeMeriville. All went well until near the end of his second tour of duty when Kipp went on a killing spree, murdering his fellow mercenaries and then vanishing into the jungle. No-one knows why this happened but he was reported missing in action and presumed dead. Eventually he sneaked back to Port Dinosaur, avoiding the other starport run by DeMeriville and he escaped off planet. He secured a new job working as a bodyguard and bruiser for an Organisation crime-boss who passed on his details to his superiors. They were particularly interested in him and he was offered a post in their Assassination Bureau, where he worked alongside Loretta Masaryk. He is armed with a Ding Exploration IG66 Zero Point Hunting Rifle, a Military Combination Carbine with an underslung Grenade Launcher and a Short-sword with the High Damage and Vicious upgrades. Just like Loretta, he also has a Retinal Implant with Telescopic Sight to aid him in long range attacks. He is a fearsome opponent with rank grade:8 and a 7d6 dice pool.
It was fun designing these four characters as I used extra options on them all, like making two of them clones. Bijam and Dalbert took careers, exploits and skills from the N.O.W. rulebook, showing just how versatile the WOIN system is.

The Nereid Trilogy Supplement

The Nereid Trilogy is an 84 page supplement for the WOIN N.E.W. role-playing game by EN Publishing and was written by Jacob Rodgers. It is written for intrepid adventurers of grades 5-8.
It starts with a brief outline of the various factions found in the Nereid starsector followed by detailed stats for the 23 planetary systems found within the Nereid starsector. Adventure seeds are provided for each planetary system for GM's and players who want to expand on the scenarios provided.
The Last Survivor is the first scenario in the trilogy and involves the PCs exploring a space ship, the merchant vessel S.S. Selkirk, that is on a crash course with Orchid Station, where the PCs are initially based. The ship does not respond to communications attempts. Once the PCs board the ship, they discover it has been taken over by an alien lifeform. The heroes might mistake the single alien for group of aliens. Eventually, they should learn enough to understand that the alien means no harm, but that the crew of the ship had to evacuate. Then the heroes will need to save the crew and battle a ruthless Ogryn slaver called Bauk in a dangerous asteroid field before he captures the stranded crew members.
The Harvester Moon is a direct sequel and sees the PCs tasked with discovering what Bauk's plot is for needing so many slaves. The Harvester Moon is the base of his operations, a moon with an unusual orbit that passes in and out of the Vortex, a cloud of energy that plays havoc with communications and sensor systems. The PCs could go undercover to discover the warlord's plans or sneak in stealthily. Once they've freed themselves from the Harvester Moon, the heroes need to stay alive long enough to signal the UFP or escape their captors.
The Virosa Accord is the final part of the trilogy. The heroes will be invited to be part of the UFP First Contact team to meet the Virosa aliens officially. They'll have the chance to interact with the leads of the mission, as each tries to convince the heroes to their often divergent viewpoints. There are divided factions on both sides. This is a more cerebral adventure to the ones that have preceded it.
I have mentioned the UFP in my descriptions, purely because they are the primary star-force of my own campaign. In the supplement, they are called the Union but in your setting they could be the Alliance, the Confederation, the Empire or whatever name you have for them. It would be useful but isn't strictly necessary if your party of heroes contains at least one psionicist, preferably a telepath.
I very much want to run this trilogy as part of my The Ace of Spades Campaign. In the introduction, it states, "Once you've placed the Nereid Sector into space then all we need do in order to introduce the adventures is to have the crew of a small ship be in the sector and willing to pick up odd jobs. The plots of the Nereid Trilogy assume that the characters are the sorts who will take up honest work and report more or less accurate information back to the authorities, who might assist them."
That perfectly describes Kimberley and her crew. Plus, with having the Venetian telepath, Danica, as part of their crew, that will make the scenario go a lot more smoothly in their interactions with the alien Virosa.
Amazon UK have The Nereid Trilogy on sale for £10.99 or you can download a PDF version of it from DriveThruRPG for £6.22. Clearly, I am a big fan of this scenario set but whether you think so too is a matter of personal preference. I am delighted that the WOIN games are getting so much support in terms of new supplements and scenarios.

Dark Decade: From Dust to Dawn Supplement

Welcome to the Dark Decade.
The 1980s were a dark time, with the shadow of nuclear annihilation, and the constant give and take of the Cold War, Central American Guerrilla Uprisings, corporate greed and the rise of MTV. There is, however, another danger, more evasive, but more immediate. There is a dark and supernatural subculture that lives parallel to our own, a world of vampires, ghouls, monsters, mad scientists and demons. Only the heroes—using their divinely inspired, sorcerous, or technological abilities—can keep these hidden, but deadly, forces of evil at bay. This adventure takes place in 1980s New York City, and enmeshes the players deeply into the modern horror genre as vampires and worse prey on the populace.
Includes new Dhampir and Werewolf heritages along with the Vampire Slayer, Demonologist, Exorcist, Guardian, and Sorcerer careers.
The adventure From Dust to Dawn takes the characters from the streets of New York into a dark section of the New York Underground, a hidden corner of the world away from prying eyes, as they track down a dangerous new drug that transforms the youth of today into psychotic killers.
Requires the use of a What's OLD is NEW core rulebook.

This is the second of EN Publishing's alternative world campaign settings (the first being Xenomorphs) and this is set in the contemporary period of New York in the 1980's, so the N.O.W. rulebook will prove especially useful to run it. This setting is very similar to the ones found in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Being Human and The Vampire Diaries, where supernatural creatures like ghouls, vampires, werewolves and zombies exist but the vast majority of humanity are unaware of them. Only a small select few know the truth, and these include the player characters of this setting.
This 44 page supplement was written by Russ Morrissey, Osvaldo Oyola and Darren Pearce.  After the introduction, we get two new heritages (the Dhampir and the Werewolf), new careers (Demonologist, Exorcist, Guardian, Sorcerer and Vampire Slayer), rules on Sorcery in this setting, new items of equipment and a look at some of the key locations in New York as they were in the 1980's. This is followed by five short adventure ideas for the GM to expand upon. Next up is a bestiary of monsters and other opponents including stats for the three major villainous NPCs. Note that any one of these has the potential to be a total party killer, so if the heroes are to take them on, they should be well prepared. The chief villain, a vampire known as The Vampire Prime is rank 12d6, whereas the heroes all start at rank 5d6!
The main meat of this book is a long scenario called From Dust to Dawn, which takes the characters from the streets of New York into a dark section of the New York Underground, a hidden corner of the world away from prying eyes, as they track down a dangerous new drug that transforms the youth of the day into psychotic killers. The Dust, or Fang Powder as some of the pushers call it, is a powerful new narcotic that enhances the body, sharpens the senses, and drives the bloodlust of young people through the roof. Dust is made by killing vampires, either with direct sunlight or UV lamps. Written in three Acts, it runs to 14 pages and is an excellent adventure.
Finally, the supplement is rounded off with five pre-generated player characters for you to use if you don't want to design your own. My favourite out of these is Diana Dubois, a martial artist and nun who thinks she is the reincarnation of Joan of Arc.
Given my love of all things undead, this is a supplement I have been looking forward to getting my hands on ever since it was first announced. I would very much love to run a campaign in this setting, either with the five pre-generated characters or a team of my own. My character of Vampifan from my ATZ:FFO campaigns would fit in perfectly. So too, would Vampirella, if the party wanted some high powered help to take out The Vampire Prime. All in all, this is one of my favourite WOIN supplements. You can purchase the soft-backed book of it from Amazon UK for £8.99. See here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Decade-Dust-Russ-Morrissey/dp/1728767326/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1542017608&sr=1-4&keywords=woin+rpg

N.E.W. Universal Upgrades

This is a review of the N.E.W. Universal Upgrades supplement which gives advanced character options. This is a collection of articles taken from the EONS website, the official magazine for the WOIN role-playing systems. Here is a list of its contents -
New Upgrades for Androids Over 20 upgrade exploits for android player characters. I found this article incredibly useful when I was creating the stats for Celeste. It is one of the best articles in the book.
Solurials Plant based parasitic aliens.
Drahzik Ferocious galactic man-hunters. These are very similar to the Predator aliens.
Houseki Ponderous crystalline beings.
Pajak Greedy insectoid thieves and bandits.
Jamila Beautiful humanoids who exude strong pheromones.
Zetan Phased beings who move at incredible speeds.
Kryte Crystalline psionic barbarians.
Clones Genetically engineered humans grown in tanks.
Belters Men and women from asteroids and low gravity planets.
Jovians Sturdy, serious people from high gravity planets.
Warped Crazed psychic humans from near black holes.
New Universal Exploits Nearly 30 new exploits for all WOIN genres. Another extremely useful article. All of these new exploits appear in the N.O.W. rulebook.
Hobbies and Quirks Advanced rules for choosing and using your character hook. For me, this is by far, the most useful article in the book and is one I refer to constantly when creating new characters. This is another article that can be used with any WOIN rulebook.
Ageing with Grace Expanded rules and exploits for older characters. Once again, an article that useful for any WOIN rulebook.
Reputation, Contacts and Credit Rules to make the most out of your REP score.
What Does my Logic Score Mean? Guidelines for intelligence and languages.
I rate this supplement very highly. Some of the articles are extremely useful and indeed have been integrated into the N.E.W. and N.O.W. rulebooks. The articles for the new alien races are the ones I'll use the least although I did use the rules for the Drahzik when I created a couple of Predator characters to use in my The Ace of Spades Campaign. Clones, Belters, Jovians and Warped give you more options for creating human characters and so are very useful. The last four articles in the supplement were very well written and extremely useful. The articles on New Universal Exploits and Hobbies and Quirks made this supplement a must have buy for me. All in all, this is an excellent supplement for anyone interested in the WOIN games. Although it is  primarily written for N.E.W. gamers there are articles in here that will be useful in any other WOIN setting. You can buy this supplement form Amazon UK for £14.70. Here's a link for it - https://www.amazon.co.uk/WOIN-Universal-Upgrades-Russ-Morrissey/dp/136575281X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1541325558&sr=8-1&keywords=Woin+universal+upgrades

UFP Starforce Commandos 01

I only recently bought these three beautifully sculpted 28mm scale figures from Statuesque Miniatures and they jumped to the front of my painting queue simply because I am so impressed with them. Statuesque Miniatures sell them as SM009 S.O.E. Kill Team consisting of Emilia, Poppy and Tilly. In my The Ace of Spades Campaign there is no such organisation as the S.O.E. so I have made them as members of the UFP Starforce Commandos. The Space Marine Corps is the elite assault force of the United Federation of Planets Starfleet. Every starship carries a complement of Marines for landing and boarding actions, as well as for major planetary raids and invasions. The Starforce Commandos are an elite force within the Space Marines organisation which trains for deep penetration raids and prolonged operations behind enemy lines. Commandos are also dropped onto enemy-occupied planets to assist BRINT (Bureau of Intelligence) agents to mobilise resistance groups.
At the far left is Emilia "Foxy" Foxwell, a rugged human Starforce Commando Captain who is always on the lookout for danger. She is a highly decorated combat veteran who grew up on Sol 10 (Spectre) as a navy brat before serving two tours of duty at UFP Starfleet Academy on Sol 3 (Terra), where she enrolled in Command School after completing Basic Training. She took on a two year Marine Cadet Assignment followed by two tours of duty, each lasting four years as a Space Marine. In recognition of her achievements and combat prowess she was offered a command posting with the Starforce Commandos. She is now serving her second tour of duty with them. Emilia is 35 years old and rank grade:8. As a larger than life character I applied the cinematic rules to her. She is armed with a MicroCo JO40 Stingfury Tachyon Autopistol with Advanced Scope and High Damage modifications, a Phaser Pistol and a Combat Knife. She wears Master Crafted Streamlined Combat Skin, which grants her SOAK:9 but is ineffective against piercing damage. She is one hell of a tough cookie and a superb leader. Her figure came in four parts - body, two arms and a scenic base for her to rest on.
In the centre of this trio is Tilly Tumbleworth, an athletic human Starforce Commando Corporal who is a keep fit fanatic and very energetic. She was born on the jungle planet of Regulus 6 in the Terran Star Sector where she excelled at sports in school. At the age of 15 she enrolled in the UFP Starfleet Academy on Sol 3. After completing her three year Basic Training course and a two year Marine Cadet Assignment, she saw front-line action as a Space Marine, serving two tours of duty which earned her a promotion and a bravery medal. Seven years ago, she applied for a transfer to the Starforce Commandos and was accepted as one of the crew under the command of Emilia Foxwell. She has the utmost respect for "Foxy" and will follow her anywhere. She is armed and armoured in an identical manner to "Foxy." She is 35 years old and is rank grade:7. Her figure came with separate arms.
Finally, is Poppy Compton, a deadeye human Starforce Commando Corporal who always checks where her exits are wherever she goes. She was born on Sol 3i (Luna) and like Emilia, she grew up as a navy brat. She enrolled at the UFP Starfleet Academy on Sol 3 (Terra) when she was just 13. She spent one tour of duty each at Basic Training, Marine Cadet Assignment and as a Starforce Marine. Her commanding officer recognised her talent as a marks-woman, and so she spent a five year tour of duty as a Marine Sniper. She was then offered a transfer to the Starforce Commandos, which she readily accepted. Here, she was assigned to a posting under the direct command of Emilia. She quickly bonded with "Foxy" and Tilly and the trio have worked as a team these past seven years on many a dangerous mission. Poppy has replaced her Stingfury Autopistol with a 10mm Ballistic Sniper Rifle with Advanced Scope and High Damage modifications. She is one year younger than the other two and she is rank grade:7. Her figure came in three parts - body, right arm and back wall. Note that her left arm was sculpted as part of the back wall she is leaning against.
The sculpting of these three figures is just exquisite. They are incredibly well detailed and superbly animated. Unsurprisingly, they are expensive. "Foxy" and Poppy cost £5.25 each and Tilly costs £5.00. However, you can buy all three for just £14.00, saving you £1.50, which is what I did. I have just finished creating N.E.W. character record sheets for all three of them and I could very easily set a whole campaign based around their exploits. I'm not saying I will, but I could. I can't recommend them too highly!

Daruma SLA Industries Augustus Luxury Car

Last month I posted a review of of the Daruma Romulus Stretch Limo for the SLA Industries game. I mentioned in my post that Daruma also made a smaller version of it - the Augustus Luxury Car. At the time I was uncertain if I wanted to buy the Augustus as I much preferred the Romulus. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would probably be worth getting. Wayland Games, whom I bought the Romulus from, had a couple for sale, so I placed an order for one and here it is.
Sleek, Luxurious and Aggressive is a fitting description of the Augustus Luxury Car, much favoured by successful SLA Industries operatives.
This is a resin model and it came in six parts - the body, front grille and bumper bar and four wheels.
As with the Romulus, which it closely resembles, it has a very tall body and tiny windscreen and windows. From the front it looks angry and aggressive, all the better for those wanting to intimidate other road users.
As I mentioned in my review of the Romulus, the driver relies on advanced sensor technology to drive the vehicle and doesn't really need the windscreen at all.
The Augustus can comfortably seat five - the driver and four passengers. Note that it only has two doors, not four.
The dimensions of this car are 13.5cm (5.5") long by 7cm (2.75") wide by 3.5cm (1.5") tall.I painted it in gloss black paint to match the colour scheme of the Romulus Stretch Limo.
Here are a couple of photos showing the Augustus Luxury Car and the Romulus Stretch Limo side by side, with my figure of Vampifan to give a sense of their scale. I would imagine that these vehicles are very heavily armoured but have superb handling and goodness know what modifications and/or hidden weapons.
Now that I have the Augustus, I'm pleased that I made the decision to buy it when I did. Both vehicles will definitely see use in my The Ace of Spades Campaign and in future games of Judge Dredd. Note that Wayland Games no longer have these models in stock and I'm not aware of anyone else who sells them.

N.O.W. Supplement - Career Ops

I was recently contacted by author Michael Woods, who kindly sent me a PDF copy of his latest book called Career Ops, which is both a supplement and a scenario for the N.O.W. Role-Playing Game by EN Publishing. He asked if I'd mind reviewing it here on my blog and I was only too happy to oblige. Michael penned the excellent The Holds of Vendalyr for N.E.W. as well as the incredibly useful WOIN GM's Screen.

Career Ops: Job Fair #1 includes new careers, new equipment and vehicles, an add-on to the vehicle combat rules and a detailed scenario based upon the info included. Inside you'll find -

New Careers
The new careers include -
The Faller (aka Lumberjack or Logger)
Wilderness Guide
Museum Curator (also, Curator of the Occult variant)
Offshore Roustabout (also, Circus Roustabout variant)
And a bonus career - Freestyle Watercraft Rider

Rules for Thaumaturgy
These are an optional spell-casting system based on Russ Morrissey's Sorcery option found in EONS#110.

New Equipment and Vehicles
These include a Felling Axe, a Heavy Duty Sledgehammer, a Flotation Jacket, a M151 Mutt Quarter Ton Jeep, an Ultra 300 Personal Watercraft, a 40' Convertible Canopy Powerboat and a CB90 Class Fast Assault Craft.

The Gaean Order
An eco-terrorist/militant insurgent organisation with stats for a leader and a standard operative.

Bedevilled by the Deep Blue Sea
A detailed adventure hook for 2-4 Grade 5 PCs. A storm is coming, and the PCs are tapped to rescue the crew of an off-shore oil rig before the storm hits. But, the Gaean Order means to stop them from seeing things on board that are best kept secret. Can the PCs survive the job?

Verdict
It is a well written supplement but how useful or essential it will be will very much depend upon what you're looking for. I liked the addition of the rules for sea-based vehicle combat as well as the stats for some boats. The Gaean Order are an interesting group of villains whom I could find use for. I doubt if I'll use the new Thaumaturgy rules. Of the new careers, the one I found most interesting and potentially useful, was the Museum Curator and its variant. The scenario is probably the best thing in the supplement. It is clearly aimed at a group of starting players but if you were running a more experienced group of players it wouldn't be too hard to beef up the difficulty level. For example, just include one Gaean Order Centurion to lead the bad guys.
This 20 page supplement costs $2.99 or £2.28 from DriveThru Games for the PDF copy, see here - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/254331/Career-Ops-Job-Fair-1

Repair Crew and Reporters

Seeing as I was so impressed with the Hong Kong Killer Fembots from Statuesque Miniatures (see here ) I decided to purchase some more figures from their sci-fi range and here they are.
First up are the repair crew. This set of four figures could be planet-based or work on a space station or a starship. I haven't decided how I'll be using them just yet and I haven't named any of them. I just finished painting them a week ago and wanted to showcase them as soon as possible.
At the left are two females. The one at the far left was a two-piece casting with her large tool bag a separate component. They all have torches held at the back of their belts except for the female second from the left who is holding her torch up in her left hand. Moving on, are a male with wrench and at far right, a male with a flame rifle. The flame rifle is a separate component. Strangely enough, in none of the WOIN rulebooks are there any stats for a flamethrower type weapon, but there are stats for an Incinerator Unit weapon in the Xenomorphs supplement (see p.15). I'll probably come up with my own stats for flame rifles, flame pistols and flamethrowers.
These next two figures are cameraman, Staz Carter, and reporter, Tallulah Caine. Despite looking like contemporary figures they are part of the Resistance Fighters range of sci-fi figures. They are certainly generic enough to be used in any setting from the 1960's to the far future. I'm undecided as to whether to use them in N.O.W., N.E.W. or Judge Dredd. These figures are both two-piece castings - Carter comes with a separate right arm and camera and Caine with a separate right hand and microphone.
Andrew Rae's sculpts are really beautiful and incredibly detailed. They are a bit pricey, with the repair woman holding the torch costing £4.25, the repair man with wrench and female with tool bag both costing £4.50 and the guy with the flame costing £4.75. You can, however, buy all four for the discounted price of £16.00, which is what I did (see here - http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/9280414/spl001-the-deck-department.html ). Carter and Caine cost £8.00 for the pair (see here - http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/8690578/sm017-tallulah-caine-and-carter.html ). I should mention that I received my figures the day after I placed my order, which is incredibly fast and efficient. I am very impressed with all of the figures that Statuesque Miniatures make and I'll certainly be placing further orders with them. These six 32mm scale figures that I've showcased here are versatile enough to be used in many a setting which makes them great value for money, in my opinion.

Starport Inspectors

Last month I bought and painted this set of five Starport Inspectors from Heresy Miniatures to use in either my The Ace of Spades Campaign or in a Judge Dredd scenario. These are the men and women who inspect starships when they dock at a starport, ensuring that everything is above board and legal. They are the sci-fi equivalent of today's customs officers and have similar sweeping powers. In short, you don't want to get on their wrong side. I've been eyeing this set up for a long time, and whilst I have no immediate use for them, they are such useful figures to have, and I'm sure I'll easily find a use for them. I haven't created any stats for them (yet) but I have given them all names.
At the far left is Bob Jones, a portly and elderly gent who no doubt has seen it all and got the T-shirt to prove it. He's relaxing with a mug of coffee or if in Mega City One, a mug of synthi-caf.
Next up is Camille Van Towe, the only female of the group. Being the youngest member of the group, she is keen to impress and will go strictly by the book.
In the centre is the team leader, Noel Johnson. Not much gets past him. He is firm but fair and is well respected. Note that all of the inspectors are armed with Phaser Pistols set to stun. These men and women are not combat specialists but if trouble occurs they will defend themselves.
Second from the right is Thomas Kane who appears to have spotted an irregularity and is contacting control to see how to proceed.
Finally, is Roger "Knuckles" Knox, the hard man of the team and an absolute stickler to the rules. You don't want to mess with any of them, but especially not "Knuckles."
I do love these figures, as each one appears to have a different personality. Although sold as inspectors, you could just as easily use them as corporate security guards. These are all available for sale from the Heresy webstore and are priced at £3.00 each or you can get all five in a special deal pack for just £12.00, which is the option I went for.

Drahzik 01

There are seven main races covered in the N.E.W. rulebook that may be used as player characters, but there are a lot more that have been added to this list, many of which can be found in articles posted online for the EONS magazine, which is the official magazine devoted to the WOIN RPG systems. One of the new races presented is the Drahzik. This race was very clearly heavily influenced by the Predator aliens seen on film and in comic books. The two figures I'm showing here were produced by Heresy Miniatures but sadly, are no longer available. They were made of metal and came with interchangeable hands and backpack weapons. They were perfect figures to use as Drahzik.
At the left is A'thith-thwin, an athletic Drahzik Manhunter who wears trophies of his vanquished foes. He is an incredibly tough character being Grade:11 with a maximum dice pool of 8d6. To put that in context, my The Ace of Spades PCs are Grade:6 with a maximum dice pool of 6d6. He spent his first 13 years as a Drahzik Hunter, followed by his next 35 years as a Drahzik Manhunter, becoming more and more efficient at the art of hunting, tracking and killing. He is armed with a pair of Drahzik Wrist Blades, a Plasma Emitter (shoulder mounted on his backpack to keep his hands free) and a Drahzik Spear Gun, which he has stowed away on his backpack. He wears Drahzik Ceremonial Heavy Armour which offers him 9:SOAK and grants him a +3d6 bonus to Stealth checks by rendering him partially invisible, discernible only by a slight shimmering.
His colleague is called Hakith-uan. I got their names from the Fantasy Name Generators website by clicking on the Predator/Yautja names (see here - https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/predator-yautja-names.php ) He is almost identical to A'thith-thwin with the same stats, but he is holding his Spear Gun in its extended configuration in his right hand and his Plasma Emitter has been deactivated.
Now here's the bad news - at least one of these characters will be facing off against the crew of The Ace of Spades in the next scenario of my ongoing campaign. An Organisation crime boss hires one (or perhaps both) to go after Kimberley and her crew! There will be blood! They are unquestionably scary opposition but I have noticed some telling weaknesses to them. It'll be an interesting encounter, that's for sure.
Note that in addition to finding the stats for the Drahzik race in EONS magazine, they also appear in the Universal Upgrades supplement for N.E.W., which is available from Amazon UK for £14.70. Here's the link for it - https://www.amazon.co.uk/WOIN-Universal-Upgrades-Russ-Morrissey/dp/136575281X/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1537871497&sr=1-1-fkmr1&keywords=N.E.W.+Universal+Upgrades

Ogrons 01

Ogrons are one of the seven core species of the N.E.W. role-playing game and in this post I'm going to show you some of my collection of Ogron miniatures. A typical Ogron is roughly 7' tall. Towering masses of muscle, accompanied by green skin and bestial tusks, they so much resemble the ogres of fairytale and lore than humankind named them after the mythical creatures. Ogrons have a reputation for stupidity. While it’s certainly true that most of humankind outstrips the Ogron species in terms of intelligence and education, Ogrons aren’t quite as stupid as many expect – they, as a species, do manage to operate and build starships, after all. Ogron adventurers tend to be mercenaries and soldiers.
At the far left is a Ral Partha troll from their old Shadowrun range, but he is both the right height and has the right face for an Ogron. Funnily enough, when I first bought him in the 1990's I painted him with green skin, so all I had to do update him for my The Ace of Spades Campaign was to re-base him. He is obviously a night club bouncer but he could just as easily be a bodyguard. He is armed with a sap and possibly a concealed pistol. I haven't named him yet.
Next to him is a very old figure whom I have no recollection of who produced him. I just know he's long out of production and he certainly wasn't sold as an Ogron. But, once again, he's the right height for an Ogron and under that helmet who's to say what he looks like? So, I'm using him as an Ogron bounty hunter. He is armed with a Terralight IJ95 Hellswarm Neutron Autocannon and he wears a Shinobi Duranium Breastplate, which gives SOAK:6 with a closed helmet. He has not been named yet.
The figure second from the right is a limited edition casting of Fergee, a character from the Judge Dredd story, The Day the Law Died (published in 1978-79) and he helped Dredd to overthrow the mad Judge Cal. Dave Stone, from Wargames Terrain Workshop sculpted this figure and he kindly gifted me a copy of him. Warlord Games produced a 28mm scale version of Fergee for their Judge Dredd Miniatures Game but he looked too small for the character who appeared in the comics. Sadly, Dave's version is too tall, but I thought, if I added tusks to him and painted his skin green he'd make a perfect Ogron. So that's what I did, and I renamed him Fergig, which sounds more Ogron-like. He is armed with a wooden baseball bat, which is classed as a club. I'll almost certainly use him as a powerful street thug.
Finally, we come to Patti, the only female Ogron I own. She is part of the Ghosts of Gaia range of figures produced by Bad Squiddo Games and is available from their webstore for £12.00. Note that like Fergee/Fergig, she is a resin cast figure. Once again, I have added tusks to her mouth. She provides muscle for the Ghosts of Gaia mercenary company. I have all of this range and I will be covering them in future posts just as soon as I get the rest of them painted up. She is armed with a club with barbed wire wrapped around its business end.
